SOGETRA utilizes practical experience and U.S. evaluation standards (namely ACI and ASCE references) for non-destructive testing to provide forensic investigations and remedial recommendations for existing damaged structures such as:

  • Structural failures and collapse
  • Building settlement related damage
  • Storm/wind damage
  • Earthquake damage
  • Fire damage
  • Damage resulting from construction defects
  • Damage due to water losses and moisture intrusion

Such evaluations are often accompanied by cost/benefit analyses to enable the client to make the most appropriate decisions when choosing the proper course of action with regards to a damaged structure.

These assessments of existing buildings, parking structures for forensic investigations and recommendations for repairs, are often used as expert testimony in mediations and appraisals.
Following the January 12th 2010 earthquake, the SOGETRA team inspected and evaluated over 100 buildings located in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area, and worked with numerous clients and insurance companies in the context of appraisals and settlement of insurance claims.
